A video for aged care staff is also available in a separate post.

This video aims to inform care recipients and their families, friends and representatives about the importance of raising any concerns they may have about aged care services. It encourages people to try to resolve any concerns with their service provider first, where possible, and discusses other options for resolving concerns.

Aged care service providers will receive a copy of this video on DVD in the mail. Service providers are encouraged to arrange a screening of this DVD for care recipients and their representatives. This may be an opportunity to remind people of a service’s complaints process and answer any questions about this.

If you have any questions or feedback about this video, please post below.

  5. Thanks for your question, Ann.

Under the Aged Care Act 1997, aged care providers are responsible for ensuring that there are adequate numbers of appropriately skilled staff to meet the individual care needs of care recipients.

The legislation does not include mandatory staff-to-patient ratios. The appropriate number of staff ...

... will vary across aged care services and change according to care recipients’ needs.

  6. As both a professional and as POA of my father whom is in a facility I would like to know what staffing ratio’s are in place to ensure there is enough carers to cope with the number of residents in a facility.
Having worked in quite a few facilities there appears ...

... to be no rules in place re acurity especially evening and night shifts.

  7. I thought the video was excellent and wondered how I go about getting a copy of it please?
